Choosing an Instructor

Choosing an instructor isn't always a straight forward job. It isn't really a case of just opening the phone book, or, just using the internet and selecting any one.

Do your research and think about what you should look for. Below is a list of some things to consider.

  • Ask around friends and family for recomendations.

  • If going by recomendations, then make sure you ask the person giving the recomendation, the name of the instructor they got. The reason for this is, some driving schools have more than one instructor.

  • Is the driving instructor fully qualified? If they are, they must display their badge in the windscreen. This will be a green octagonal one.

  • How long is each lesson?

  • Price - Cheaper isn't always better. Someone who is really good rarely charges low prices!

  • A busy instructor is usually busy for a reason. So, if they can't fit you in for 2 or 3 weeks, don't be put off by that.

  • Never pay for a block booking of lessons before you have tried the instructor. Everyone gets on differently with each other, so book a single lesson first, then take things from there.
